You deserve the support you are looking for.
I help my clients find the answers that are within them and right for them.

I’m Glad You’re Here
Many of us long for more peace, belonging, meaning, and connection in our lives. As a systemic therapist, I view problems not in isolation but within the broader context of our relationships, environment, and lived experiences. In therapy, we’ll explore not just the issue that brings you in, but also the patterns and influences that contribute to and sustain it. Systemic therapy embraces a both/and perspective, rather than either/or thinking.
As a visual person, I often think in metaphors. Imagine yourself as a string instrument. You want to feel in tune so that you can operate at your best in your life, work and relationships. When life throws us off balance, it can be hard to know which strings are out of tune—especially when we are overwhelmed. Therapy can act like a tuning fork: a space to help identify what's sharp (this might feel like anxiety) or flat (this might feel like depression). Therapy helps you attune so you can reconnect with your most empowered and authentic-feeling self.
I believe we all have inherent worth and a deep need to feel seen, heard, and understood. When we experience real presence and acceptance, we begin to attune more fully to ourselves and others—opening the door to healing, growth, and deeper connections.
Systemic Approach
Shannon Carpenter, MS in Marriage and Family Therapy
With over 30 years in helping professions, I have worked with clients navigating grief/loss, stressful life transitions, difficult relationships, and taking courageous leaps towards pursuing their dreams and goals. It is an honor to walk alongside people on their journey.
I believe that we thrive when we feel seen, heard and understood. I help clients deepen and strengthen their relationships both to themselves and with others. Foundationally, I work from an anti-oppressive lens. I believe all people deserve to live the fullest expression of their authentic selves without judgment—and that that involves a recognition of impact/intent and accountability. I work with individuals, intimate partners, and families wanting to break old unhelpful patterns and experience greater awareness, connection, compassion, accountability and acceptance.
As a systemically-trained therapist with a creative background, I use evidence-based modalities to help my clients envision the life and relationship that is right for them, and then create it. We’ll explore not just the issue that brings you in, but also the patterns and influences that contribute to and sustain it. Systemic therapy embraces a both/and perspective, rather than either/or thinking.
Healthy Relationships
Even strong, loving relationships can get stuck in painful patterns that can leave us feeling hurt, overwhelmed, or emotionally disconnected. My approach is compassionate and tailored to the unique bonds you share. You do not have to navigate this on your own.
Together, we’ll slow things down and dig deep to explore what is causing conflict and disconnection. By creating a supportive space, I help clients recognize and break their stuck cycles, reconnect, and feel more secure in their relationship.
Navigating Blended Family Challenges
If you are in a blended (step) family, it probably won’t surprise you to hear that what works in first families does not work for blended families. And what does work well is not intuitive. If things feel hard, it is probably because the manual for what worked before wasn’t written with your re-partnered or re-married family in mind.
Blended family couples need a new roadmap informed by evidence-based strategies to help them meet the unique challenges that come with creating a new, blended family.
